The pros and cons of reading and writing.

Literacy has become an essential part of our culture's day to day activities. As with everything else in life there are pros and cons to both reading and writing. Personal preference dictates which activity one is more efficient at. For myself, it is easier for me to read material rather than write about it. With practice and education I have been able to understanding the art of writing much better through out the years.

Reading requires discipline and comprehension. With reading material the outline, thesis, main point, and information amongst other things are already organized there for you. The author has already completed the organization for you. However with different writing styles it is sometimes difficult for me to understand. Also reading takes a long time. I also have to go over certain main points several times before I comprehend it.

Writing is more of an art form. It allows me to express my own ideas and op ions. I also enjoy the freedom of organizing main points in whatever style I desire. I do not enjoy having to write in designated formats. It is hard for me to keep in mind all the rules that come along with each particular style. I also find it difficult to write and compose enough organized information on topics that I do not enjoy or understand.
