In Class Writing 1

Reading the bad grade on a paper handed back from your English teacher is not always a fulfilling feeling. Reading is one of those things that you either do well, or you just can't do at all. Now, I'm not saying that I can't read, but I have a very hard time trying to comprehend what I just read. The trouble I have with reading is trying to  focus in on the reading itself, not all the surrounding noises or objects. It really all depends on the situation of the text. If you hand me a book, and force me to read something, chances are I will not enjoy it. If I do not enjoy the text I will probably not want to focus in on it. Now, if I can choose what I want, I will most likely do very well because I'll enjoy the text.

A recent example would be my English class in High School. I was allowed to choose whatever topic I wanted and write about that topic. This being said, I really enjoyed the books and got a one-hundred and one percent on that paper! The same effect goes towards writing. I have always been good with my writing, and how I write. My number one flaw would probably be my grammar, but in the long run, my essay itself over ruled the grammar for a good score. Besides all the grammatical errors and the lecture of teachers telling us how to write, it's always came pretty natural to me.

When I sit down at the computer to begin my writing, I never brainstorm. I find it more difficult to brainstorm and think about what to write, rather then just write. I am the type of person who just wants to be left alone, and type. I do not like trying to plan my paper. I like the ability to just sit and write as I progress deeper into the paper and my main ideas. Teachers in the past have asked me what I do to prepare for such good papers, and my answer always strides to be; nothing. Nothing is the word I use because it is the truth. If you were to come up to me and ask what main ideas to use in a thesis, I would sit down and help you. I would tell you the strengths and weaknesses of the thesis and why or why not that would fulfill the requirements of the essay. Writing has always been easy for me, and I'm very excited to kick off this class with writing!
