Zero Draft

·       Black and white-Could symbolize the simplicity of the situation.

·       Four main parts- Politics newspaper, Olympics newspaper, Uncle Sam, Printer

·       Shows how the United States of America sports teams outshined politics with only 1 month of television broadcasting.

·       Gabby especially won the hearts of the U.S. with her charisma, talent, and love for Christ. What have the political candidates won?

·       The printer says there is actually good news, with GOOD underlined. A little go a long way. Which was Gabby in this case since she was so tiny but was larger that life, so to speak.

·       Words associated with Politics: Grubby and Tarnished.

·       Words associated with the Olympics: Gabby and Golden.

·       Tone of the cartoon: mocking, but subtle. Doesn’t point out any specific negative points, which shows a bit of respect.

·       Lines to the right of the Politics newspaper indicates that the newspaper was dropped putting more emphasis on how repulsive politics are to the U.S. right now.

·       This also shows that the U.S. has a bright side. We do have hope; we just don’t find the hope within the government’s reach.

·       The illustration of the little guy with the ink also shows that little things do make an impact, just like Gabby Douglas did by representing the U.S.

·       The “Ah!” that is exclaimed from Uncle Sam’s mouth is portrayed to be an exclamation of relief getting a break from the morbid life of politics.
