truck ads

The ads that I chose have good historical context to them. The truck ford has been around since 1903. These ads ensure people that these trucks been around for a long time and are still a great choice when looking for a truck to buy. The ads show an old model next to a new one to compare the styles. It brings a lot of interest to the trucks. The rhetoric aspects show the detail of the vehicles and the text give that they are going to be around for even longer. The kairos of these ads are that one is old and here’s the new.

When I was a sophomore in High School, the Tiger Woods scandal started to unwind. I am an avid golfer and I grew up watching all of Tiger's famous shots and win after win after win. I loved it and always supported Tiger and his outrageous celebrations and what not.

When it came out that Tiger Woods was sleeping around with numerous women, I was at my friends house after Thanksgiving waiting to get up early for black friday. It came on the news and we were all shocked. Although, we did feel bad for his wife, because who would do that to someone they cared about so much.

Anyway, a lot of stuff fell down on him all at once and a lot of the sponsors dropped him, but Nike was loyal to him and stuck with him. It was a genius strategy with their simple ad pictured below and helped gained the support of him and Nike's partnership in the future of his career and to the day, he is almost back to the same social standing as before.

Well, it has been ten minutes. I am excited to write this paper because of my love for golf, Tiger, and Nike.

zero draft of ads

This time I choose two converse brand advertisements. The first one is interesting. There is a big foot in the image and a hand catches the foot. It shows that converse has high quality and it is stable. The customer could use converse for a long time. The second one is creative for there exist a pair of shoes in the picture. There is also a bus which is made up of shoelaces. It means that converse will go ahead in the shoes industry. It will never stop creating and developing. At the same time, its development speed is so fast.

I chose two commercial ads for Old Spice. The first ad is from 2012 and Old Spice used Isaiah Mustafa, an American actor and former NFL practice squad wide receiver, as the spokesman. He is very engaging and funny from beginning to end and sells the product well. He basically makes it sound as if Old Spice will make any man who uses it an instant chic magnet. The second commercial is from 2000 and Old Spice is selling their product using sports. It makes you smell good for longer because of the new and “strongest wet protection Old Spice had ever made”. Both use the logo “The spice your man could smell like”.

So I have chosen Coca Cola ads for my writing project. The first one is a 1943 ad displaying a soldier seeing a sign with Coca Cola on it and he says "howdy friend". The soldier was away from home for however long during the war that when he comes home seeing coke makes him happy to be back just like seeing a friend or loved one. The second one is a Coca Cola ad for the 2012 olympics which portrays the Midwest floods in 2008 right before she left for Beijing. Seeing a celebrity or athlete in a product ad makes that makes it more appealing especially like this one where there is also some sort of catastrophe linked to it.

The two advertisments I chose are advertising Nike Air Jordans. The first thing to notice about the two ads is that they use famous basketball player Micheal Jordan (sponser of Nike Air Jordans) and Spike Lee to sell the shoes. When advertisements use celebrities to sell their product, it makes the audience want the product more because their favorite player or celeb is using or wearing that product.  In the top advertisement, it shows Micheal Jordan dunking, then says "Micheal Jordan 1 Isaac Newton 0" on the side.  Isaac Newton is a scientist that discovered gravity, but by the ad it is being implied that Micheal Jordan is the one that discovered gravity and not Isaac Newton. In the bottom ad, it shows spike lee and a person wearing Air Jordans flying above his head. In both ads, it advertises that when wearing Air Jordans you would be able to dunk or play like Micheal Jordan.

Wonder Bread 1950's ads

Pepsi

I chose the pepsi advertisement, they both use logo appeals. The first picture uses words while the second picture uses just a picture. The ad that has words is showing that everyone in the United States loved pepsi and everyone enjoys drinking it. The one with just a picture uses logo appeal because they are saying that everyone would rather drink pepsi than drink a coke. Showing the straw not wanting to go into the coke bottle but it isnt showing any fight to go into the pepsi.
