Is the Drinking Age the Real Problem?
      I. Hook: the comsumption of alcohol has been through many debates. its been abolished and now faces its most controversial topic. The Drinking age.
          Thesis: While some believe the drinking age should be lowered. I believe the legal drinking age was implemented to save lives.
     II. The drinking age saves lives.
       A. raising the drinking age to 21 has saved thousands of lives.
       B.number of crashes due to drunk driving has decreased.
     III.  Teens aren't responsible
        A. if the drinking age were to be lowered, teens would drink more often and increase fatalities.
        B. Teens often binge drink, consume as much alcohol as quickly as possible.
        C. geared more towards college age and even high school students.
     IV. How are teens affected by the lowered drinking age in other countries?
        A. European teens are exposed to alcohol at younger age,but still are irresponsible drinkers
        B. binge drinking occurs more often among teens 15 and 16 years of age.
      V. How can teens be taught to drink more responsibly?
         A. Implement a drinking permit to teach teens to drink more responsibly.
          B. teach a course in alcohol
      VI. Being treated like adults
         A. 18 year olds are able to vote, buy apartments and buy cigarrettes but are not able to buy alcohol.
         B. if they are able to do these why not buy alcohol? Should the above things be raised to 21? or should lowering the drinking age be considered.
       VII. conclusion
           A. Is underage drinking or Binge drinking the real problem?
           B. if teens were taught to drink responsibly and change mindset of alcohol consumption then maybe lowering of the drinking age could be considered.
            C. until then, age should remain to save lives of high school but mostly college age students.
