Nowadays, more and more people are addicted to smoking. However smoking is harmful to people's health. If the cigarette is good for health, why so many sellers of cigarette did not smoke. If the nicotine is good for health,  why does many people say that smoking is harmful to health.

I am sitting on this side because I can choose to sit here, just as I can choose to buy cigarettes or not buy cigarettes. I am a legal adult, capable of making my own decisions. There are a lot of things that can kill you in this world. To me, cigarettes seem on the lower rungs of the death ladder. I could see where Nick Naylor would want to make the argument about the number one killer being heart disease. A person doesn’t just contract heart disease in a day,  it is the repeated use of a toxic diet. Cigarettes aren’t good, but they certainly aren’t the worst, I would think.

I believe the advertising of tobacco is absolutely fine and there should be no limitations on it. Not only because of the freedom of speech and other freedoms us as Americans are privileged to have, but because we--people over 18--are normal human beings and can make our own decisions. It is a product.  A product just like shirts, shoes, food, and anything else on sale. It is a product that advertisers   try to make consumers buy. It is the job for the consumer to decide whether to buy it or not. It is similar to someone falling off a ship: someone will throw you a life vest, it is their choice to grab the vest or drown. The person throwing it simply put it out there to see it--- just like marketers do with their products.

I think that advertising and the sale of tobacco should be legal because it violates what this country was founded upon which was freedom. This includes the freedoms to do what we want to ourselves. We are aware of the side effects and tobacco and those who use it make the choice to do so themselves if they make it illegal it will be one more illegal product that people make and sell illegally.

Well everyone is warned about all of the things that can happen to you from smoking so it is their choice to do it. There are a ton of things in this world that are bad for you, so they would have to prohibit a lot more than just smoking.

       I believe the production and sale of cigarettes should not be legally prohibited. Even with cigarette adveristsments and the influence of actors /actresses doing it on tv (which isnt seen to much anymore) there are just as many advertisements that are anti- smoking. Since I've been in school, there has always been some sort of lesson that tells you of the consequences of smoking. so its been stored in my head what happens to the body when tobacco is smoked. with that being said it is MY CHOICE not to smoke cigarrettes, but for those that do were also informed about the consequences as well. yes, cigarrettes do a lot of harm, but people can choose not to smoke them, just like they have to the choice to smoke. Advertisements and commercials tell you about the dangers of smoking, thats their only job. it is the persons job watching the commercial to decided whether they will listen to the consequences and not smoke.

I don’t believe they should be. For one, many Americans would be out of a job. It is also a form of pleasure or satisfaction for many Americans. If the production of cigarettes were legally prohibited, the government would have an uprising on their hands to deal with. Many Americans would be angry and probably start riots. It is a person’s own right to chose to smoke or not. They may have been proven to be harmful to a person’s health, but people have a right to act and chose and do with their life what they want.

I believe that the sale of cigarettes should not be illegal because it directly goes against the concept of freedom of choice we have established in our country. Despite there being a significant amount of undeniable evidence that smoking cigarettes can cause a multitude of health problems, ultimately the decision to smoke is   a personal one. If someone is completely informed of all the health risks of cigarettes and still chooses to smoke them, that is their decision. If other negative affects, such as secondhand smoke, are accounted for and dealt with, the act of smoking is not harming anyone but the smoker itself.

I believe that cigarettes should not be legally prohibited because they have many effects to which people believe are for the better and are helpful.  Smokers can argue these days that smoking helps relieve the stress that is built up throughout their work environment or family issues.  People who smoke also can now argue that it is become more safe by the creation of electronic cigarettes, which do not dispense toxic second hand smoke and only a vapor that has a flavorful smell.  Also smokers believe that they have the right to smoke because it makes them feel comfortable in this world and helps them fit in.  We have seen what stopping smoking can do to someones body and how severe it can be that it should be that persons choice whether they want to smoke or not.

It is pointless for the gonvernment to be that involved in a person's life to tell them to quit. If the sale and production was prohibited cigarettes would ultimately be another drug on the street and the government might as well make money off of people choosing to smoke anyway with the taxes. To most people smoking is not something they do many times a day, it is a therapeutic stress relief and if they were prohibitted that person would lose his or her fall back during a stressful situation. I believe that the sale of cigarettes should not be prohibited, because people should have the right to make their own choices. If someone wants to smoke cigarettes, then they have to live with whatever consequences that come with it. Regardless if the production and sale of cigarettes becomes illegal, people will still find a way to smoke them because there are already so many people who are addicted to it that they can't just stop. No one should be allowed to tell a person not to do something, so overall it is the persons decsion to smoke.

No one is telling them that they have to smoke, they make that decision on their own. Going into the choice, they know it is a bad thing to do and that it can kill you but they still choose to do so. I believe that cigarettes should not be prohibited. They make a good income for many people. If they were to get prohibited then many people would lose there jobs and be unemployed. Many people would be very outraged by this thought of them taking away there cigarettes. Many people would start making them themselves and be more harmed from making the chemicals.

The reason why I do not think that cigarettes should be legally prohibited is because I do not think that it should be someone else's decision if you smoke or not. Cigarettes have been around for a really long time, everyone knows their effects, so people should continue knowing what cigarettes can do to your body, but be able to make their own choice. Cigarettes are from a naturally grown crop, then has harmful ingredients added, which is pretty much the same thing as fast food. If we know the effects, the harms, the ingredients, and the life threatening diseases that cigarettes are associated with there is no point in banning them. They do not harm the environment, there are laws that protect non-smokers, and the warning labels are right on the pack. Every person should get to choose whether or not they themselves want to deal with the risks of cigarettes, by the knowledge they have been given.

I think that cigarettes should not be legally prohibited. Cigarettes are something people recreationally smoke. They are not a drug like weed. Even though they are more dangerous than weed they should not be prohibited. I personally believe that the production and sale of cigarettes should not be legally prohibited because I see the advertisement of cigarettes as something who should only effect those who are smokers. We all know the downside of smoking and if someone decides to continue onward with smoking then so be it, it is their life and they know the long acting consequences of being a smoker. Basically I am not a smoker but I will admit the smoking industry is big, the amount of sales they make a day alone is probably sky high and it should not be my or any other nonsmokers place to get in the way of their production and sales because we are not interested. Smoking is a life choice made by that person in general. If one doesn't care for it or even like it then they should avoid the advertisements and smokers. It would be unethical to shut down a major money maker because of personal beliefs.

I do not believe that smoking should be legally prohibited because it is a choice in which we were given a long time ago, and we can't retract on that. I personally, don't even smoke, but I know that there is a lot of money put into the tobacco industry and we need any kind of money flow in this economy. How can we get rid of tobacco, but we are just now legalizing pot. If we retract on one dangerous substance, we will have to retract on all of them, such as alcohol, pot, and more.
